Takeathome

Takeathome is a food delivery company from the Marche region connecting customers, restaurants and riders in a multi-vendor marketplace model. As the business grew, the existing platform began showing its structural limits: costly legacy infrastructure, an architecture that buckled under peak load, a disjointed purchasing experience and fragmented operations spread across disconnected systems.

The requirement was clear: rebuild the entire platform from scratch on a modern, scalable and cost-sustainable architecture, without losing the business in the process.

We built the new marketplace on AWS with a Laravel backend, Vue.js frontend and React Native mobile app for customers and riders. The system manages the entire order cycle in real time: from restaurant selection to payment, from automatic rider assignment to delivery tracking, with synchronous communication between all actors via WebSocket.

The AWS infrastructure, with Redis for queue management, Docker for containerisation and automatic load balancing, fully replaced the legacy architecture, delivering native scalability at peak times and a centralised operational panel for restaurants and riders.

The migration to the new AWS architecture produced a 93% reduction in infrastructure and external service costs compared to the previous solution. The system scales automatically during peak periods, the purchasing experience is significantly smoother and the operational management of restaurants and riders is centralised in a single panel.
