Background
OGS, the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics, is Italy's leading research institute for marine and earth sciences. As part of the European projects MEET and NESTORE, OGS manages networks of seismic sensors distributed across the territory, generating continuous streams of critical data.
This data must be collected, processed and distributed in near real-time to analysis systems and research applications, while respecting embargo rules that restrict public access before scientific publication. The infrastructure's criticality leaves no room for downtime or data loss.

The project
We developed the applications for managing, visualising and distributing the seismological data produced by the MEET and NESTORE projects. The applications cover the entire pipeline: sensor acquisition, processing, storage on PostgreSQL with PostGIS, distribution to third-party systems via API with embargo management and granular access control for internal and external researchers.
The infrastructure is containerised on AWS with Redis for queue management and proactive monitoring, ensuring the operational continuity that a critical scientific research environment demands.
